CAB was developed out of NYTAG's understanding that we must connect with community members who can share their lived experiences and provide us with a clearer understanding of the issues that are prevalent in our community today. With your help, we will be more intentional in our strides to advance the lives of our TGNCNB siblings and hold Albany accountable. NYTAG recognizes that our community members may face numerous hurdles during this hostile political landscape for Black and Brown women of trans experience and all TGNCNB people alongside our individual journeys of self-determination.
WHAT?
NYTAG's Community Advisory Board (CAB) will advise on the current issues faced by the TGNCNB community.
WHY?
NYTAG would like to improve data, survey the service gap, identify & recommend possible opportunities to remove barriers for the TGNCNB community. NYTAG would also like to support the leadership of those most impacted and marginalized by systematic chains of oppression. The purpose of CAB is to act as the pulse of community concerns and function as the advisory board to advocate for community needs with a sense of urgency i.e. issues surrounding but not limited to: Housing, Healthcare, Employment, Lobbying, Town Halls, Rallies & Leadership Development.
WHERE?
Hybrid meetings, NYTAG's new office & over Zoom. We will honor accessibility needs and digital divide during this time. However, we encourage all CAB members’ full participation in person as much as possible, to build synergy and build capacity with visibility.
WHEN?
Launching in June 2023, the first Friday of every month from 6 pm to 8 pm. SEE DATES IN GRAPHIC.
Funding resources are limited and will be selected on a rolling basis as funds become available. There is no long-term NYTAG obligation to continue fiscal support, but applicants are strongly encouraged to apply if future cycles of funding present themselves.
